Milestones and updates
My name is Amit Sharma. I am 32 years old, and I come from Rajasthan. Today, people know me as an Excel freelancer and educator, but my journey was not always this clear or confident. It took years of learning, struggle, self-doubt, and consistency to reach where I am today. I was born and raised in Rajasthan in a middle-class family. Like most families, stability and a secure job were always the priority. After completing my graduation, I started working in small private companies. My job mainly involved handling data, preparing reports, maintaining records, and doing repetitive office tasks. That was the first time I was introduced to Microsoft Excel in a serious way. At that time, Excel was just a tool for me — something I used because my job required it. But slowly, I became curious. I started exploring formulas, functions, and features beyond basic data entry. I realized that Excel was much more powerful than people around me thought. It could automate tasks, analyze data, and save hours of manual work. The problem was, there was no proper guidance available around me. Advanced Excel training was not easily accessible in my city. So I decided to teach myself. I started learning through online videos, articles, and practice files. Many nights, I stayed up late experimenting with formulas like VLOOKUP, IF statements, Pivot Tables, and dashboards. I failed many times. My sheets would break. Formulas wouldn’t work. But every mistake taught me something new. As my skills improved, my colleagues began asking for help. I started solving their Excel problems — automating reports, fixing formulas, and creating clean dashboards. Slowly, I realized that this skill had real value. At the age of 26, I decided to try freelancing. Honestly, I was scared. I didn’t know whether clients would trust me or not. I created profiles on freelancing platforms and started offering Excel-related services — data cleaning, MIS reports, dashboard creation, and automation. The beginning was very tough. I faced rejections. Some clients negotiated heavily. Some projects paid very little. But I didn’t quit. My breakthrough came when I delivered a detailed dashboard project to a small business owner. He was extremely happy with the results and left a positive review. That one review changed everything. I started getting referrals. Gradually, my freelancing income became stable. Then came 2020 — the pandemic year. I saw many people losing their jobs and struggling to find opportunities. I realized something important: Excel is not just a skill; it is a survival tool in the corporate world. I decided to start sharing my knowledge on social media. I didn’t have fancy equipment. I started with my smartphone and basic screen recordings. I began posting short Excel tutorials regularly. In the beginning, almost nobody watched my videos. Sometimes I would get only 10–20 views. It was discouraging, but I reminded myself why I started — to help people. Instead of focusing on views, I focused on value. I created practical tutorials — salary sheet automation, attendance trackers, GST calculation sheets, dynamic dashboards. I explained complex formulas in simple Hindi and English so that beginners could understand easily. Slowly, people started noticing. One comment changed my mindset. A student wrote that because of my videos, he cleared his job interview. That message gave me more happiness than money ever could. I realized I was not just teaching Excel; I was helping people grow. Consistency became my biggest strength. Even when engagement was low, I kept posting. Even when negative comments came, I ignored them and improved myself. I upgraded my content quality, improved my explanations, and learned basic video editing. Over time, my audience grew steadily. As my followers increased, I started conducting live sessions and webinars. I interacted directly with students, answered their questions, and solved their real-time problems. I built a community, not just an audience. Eventually, I launched my own structured Excel course. I designed it especially for beginners, job seekers, and working professionals. My focus was always practical learning — not theory, but real office scenarios. I kept the course affordable because I understand the financial limitations many people face, especially in smaller cities like mine. Today, at 32, I earn through multiple sources — freelancing, online courses, corporate training sessions, and brand collaborations. But more than income, what matters to me is impact. Thousands of students have learned Excel through my content. Many have improved their job performance, received promotions, or even started freelancing themselves. My journey from Rajasthan to becoming a recognized Excel freelancer and educator has taught me a few important lessons: First, skills are more powerful than degrees. Second, consistency beats talent. Third, you don’t need perfect conditions to start — you just need the courage to begin. I still consider myself a learner. Excel keeps evolving, and so do I. My goal is to simplify data skills for as many people as possible. I want every student and professional, especially from small towns, to believe that they can build a strong career using digital skills. This is not the end of my journey. It is just the beginning of a bigger mission — to educate, empower, and inspire. I am Amit Sharma, and this is my story.
